President Gary A. Olson is at the helm of Â鶹¹ú²úAV, fostering strong leadership that spreads institutional direction, guidance and standards among both a Board of Trustees and the President’s Cabinet.
The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University – ultimately responsible for all activities. He is charged with general supervision of everything that concerns the University, and has authority to approve the selection and employment of staff and faculty.
The Â鶹¹ú²úAV Board of Trustees has the ultimate responsibility for the University, and gives the President authority to conduct day-to-day operations. In conjunction with the President and Cabinet, the Board of Trustees approves the direction of the University.
A university with such a rich storehouse of opportunities demands seasoned leadership, innovative vision, and time-tested discipline. Key attributes aimed for within Â鶹¹ú²úAV’s student body – affective awareness, moral and ethical discernment, the ability to deal effectively with change – must trickle down from the school’s executive, professional and educational leadership.
Indeed, intellectual and civic leadership at Â鶹¹ú²úAV is a valued life skill that’s woven into the fabric of the academic culture here. Â鶹¹ú²úAV takes pride in offering an impressive range of leadership opportunities to our students – from Student Alumni Ambassadors to Peer Mentors, Learning Center Coaches to Â鶹¹ú²úAV Tour Guides, and Career Peer Coaches. These and other opportunities help students gain practical exposure to program planning, delegation, motivation of personnel, problem-solving, critical thinking, and other characteristics of effective leadership.
